The KYO and its many programs would not be possible without the countless hours of dedicated volunteer work we receive each concert season. We are always eager to welcome those of you who are willing to reach out to our organization and lend a helping hand. Benefits of becoming a volunteer with our society do not just include the warm feeling you get when you hear those first few beautiful notes of a concert! If you would like to learn more about the benefits of volunteering with the KYO, please contact the KYO office by phone (705.931.7539) or email at info@thekyo.org.

We encourage all those interested in volunteering to let us know what languages they speak, what hours of the week they prefer to volunteer, and what skill set they enjoy using best. Do you love to type? Get a kick out of numbers? Enjoy working with music? We’ll do our best to accommodate your love with ours.

Some volunteer responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  •  Light administrative office work such as data entry, envelope stuffing
  • Front of house staff, including ticket takers, ticket sellers, ushers and Folding programs before a concert
  • Back stage management during dress rehearsals and concerts
  • Concert photographers, videographers and editors
  • Equipment transfer from one location to the next (large vehicle preferred)
  • Publicity (postering, poster design, writing letters and invitations)
  • Program notes
  • Board of Directors
